Sheila Louissante LaFortune, CNM, is a board-certified nurse midwife at Georgia Center for Female Health in Peachtree Corners and Decatur, Georgia. For Sheila, nursing is a calling that has enabled her to touch the lives of thousands of patients in a variety of clinical settings such as hospitals, neighborhood clinics, and even home care.
Sheila is highly experienced in women’s health care and has provided clinical care to women in all stages of life from young adulthood to childbearing years to menopause and through the senior years. Her OB/GYN specialty areas include birth control management, annual exams, Pap smears, high-risk obstetrics, irregular bleeding, prenatal care, labor induction, and managing menopause symptoms.
Sheila began her nursing career as an undergraduate student at Massasoit Community College in Brockton, Massachusetts, where she completed an associate’s in nursing. She earned her bachelor’s in nursing at the University of Massachusetts in Boston and her master’s in nursing and midwifery at Stony Brook School of Nursing in New York.
When she isn’t busy with her patients at Georgia Center for Female Health, she is active with the American College of Nurse-Midwives and the Massachusetts Nursing Association.
